Well at least according to his idea for a constitutional amendment.

I love it! It's not going to amount to much in the big picture, but I like this observation from the cited link:

It also reflects Romney’s tendency to take positions strategically without carefully considering their long-term impact. When he made that comment, was it really so difficult for him to imagine naming a vice president without business experience? That would, for instance, disqualify career military men, like Gen. David Petraeus.

It should give everyone at least a bit of pause that a person running for president would have made such a frivolous call for changing the Constitution (which has only been altered 17 times in the last couple of hundred years - excluding the first 10 amendments which were ratified fairly soon after the Constitution took effect).

Holy crap! What an idiotic thing to say!

Three years ago, Mitt Romney proposed a constitutional amendment that would say “the president has to spend three years working in business before he becomes president of the United States. Then he or she would understand that the policies they are putting into place have to encourage small business to grow.”

I think every president should be thrown, unemployed, into a household by themselves with an 8 year old and a 10 year old and see if they can make a go of it. Then he or she would understand that the policies they are putting into place have to not screw over struggling families...

That's funny.

Yes it is a dumb idea, on so many levels. (your suggestion is much better hal!)

I notice that Romney is trying to rewrite part of Ryan's biography so that it better fits his own vision. He said that Ryan had wanted to stay in the private sector but felt so strongly that the country needed "fixing" that he went to DC instead.
Really? He went straight from college to DC to be a staffer. He returned very briefly to Janesville and worked as a salesman for his family's earth moving company, apart from bartending and other side jobs that is his only private sector experience. Then he ran for Congres at age 27 and hasn't looked back since. This guy is a creature of DC if there ever was one. It's pretty funny that he ends up as running mate to the guy trying to run as the ultimate "outsider" and worshipper of private sector as be all, end all.

Oh, the call for this amendment and that amendment from my party is worthy of a weeklong session in sackcloth and ashes. Every time some knucklehead yammers at me about 'Well I hope President Romney Repeals Amendment xxxx" they get a short and not so sweet lesson in Civics 101.

The number of Americans who think the President is Dictator For LIfe amazes me.

This is the first thing I noticed in his biography. Unbelievable, straight from college to the hill. How do the conservatives feel about that sort of experience?

Oscar Mayer could make some fine lunch meat out of that Ryan Plan.

Not at all. Agreed with it. Repeating 5th grade Civics should be a requirement to run for elected office anywhere in the US. Most of those knuckleheads don't know the rules they're supposedly working under.
