A happy ending, people are kind.
Still no explanation for why a low income family with nine kids wouldn't have them covered by insurance. They would qualify for all sorts of things. Health care reform isn't going to solve things for people who won't bother to sign up for available coverage.

Many people at low income levels find it difficult to wade through the paperwork and regulations. Accessibility to theoretically available care is often a challenge.

But it's good that people helped this young man.
It's horrible that heroes get the bill.

I worked with government agencies in the late 1990s when my state began offering low-cost health insurance to low-income families. We advertised online, in print and on TV in both English and Spanish. Still, we were doing a poor job attracting families to sign up for this insurance. Our message just wasn't reaching our target audience.
