Police are investigating what prompted a man to walk in to the lobby of a conservative policy organization on Wednesday morning and open fire, wounding a security guard.

The guard, who was shot in the arm, helped wrestle the gunman to the ground, police said. The guard was reported to be in stable condition.

It will be interesting to see if politics played a part in his madness. I'm glad the guard survived.

Pickin' on conservatives again.

If you don't stand for something, you'll probably fall for anything.

"There is no place for such violence in our society," he said in a statement. "My prayers go out to the wounded security guard and his family, as well as all the people at the Family Research Council whose sense of security has been shattered by today's horrific events."

Sounds about right.

Unfortunately, it seems an established place for such violence has formed within our society.

It can easily be a disgruntled conservative, or just someone with a personal axe to grand. Too soon to tell.

Well, we can infer one political view: He's probably not in favor of gun control.

I would hardly call FRC a "think tank". More like an anti-gay hate group or political lobbying organization.

Southern Poverty Law Center would agree with the "hate group" part.

Still this shooting as all the rest are a product of mental illness.

Nutjob FRC President Tony Perkins blames SPLC for shooting. The level of ridiculousness implicit in this accusation is truly farcical. I actually wonder if it's a joke.

Tony Perkins has always been a gigantic horse's ass.

Going to blame it on the victims? In this case you had a far out gay fanatic who displayed his hatred by shooting people he disagreed with.

I'm talking about Perkins blaming it on the SPLC. HE'S the one playing the blame game.

I don't think Perkins was shot, unless he does double-duty as the security guard. Nobody is blaming the victim; we're pointing out the ridiculousness of blaming the shooting on the SPLC, a group completely committed to nonviolence since its inception.

Bingo. Don't forget, according the the FRC, anti-bullying campaigns aren't about protecting vulnerable kids - they're about promoting the Gay Agenda!

And the anti-anti-bullying campaigns are about religious freedom to bully inform gay kids at public schools that they are wicked sinners.
