THIS is the definition of a Naive Person:

“The power of politicians should not be used for partisan retribution," Newland said.

Why should a company that denies basic health care to employees be rewarded as a company with excellent health care?
The city of Denver doesn't have to lie, you know.

“The power of politicians should not be used for partisan retribution," Newland said. "The merits of Hercules [Industries] should stand on their own. This proclamation acknowledges our success and should of gone forward, but it didn’t for their personal reasons and their own beliefs.”

"should HAVE gone forward". Why does everyone make this mistake? It irks the heck out of me.

The lack of English language skills may also explain why they can't understand the woman's explanation of why the award nomination has been rescinded. She clearly states that it would be a lightning rod for an acrimonious political battle. She used the term "red meat" and "food fight" instead of "lightning rod" and "political battle" but it shouldn't be so difficult to figure out what she is saying.

FOX viewers LOVE to be ticked off. They thrive on it.

Obviously you did not read and comprehend the full article...

Hercules Industries, a heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning manufacturer that employs 300 workers and has been in business in the Mile-High City for 50 years, was to be honored with a “Good Citizenship Award." The laurel was in recognition of contributions to the community, including the historic restoration of company headquarters and, ironically, its “generous employee health care coverage.

Well the state legislature did the right thing and made the award anyway.. What you have here is a libtard who felt the Court ruled against HER view so took things into her own hands to mete out her own form of retribution. It has nothing to do with her language skills.

What exactly did I not comprehend?
This company doesn't want to offer contraceptive coverage to employees. That is, by definition, not good employee health care.
Why should Denver honor them for something they don't deserve?

It's called religious freedom. I would think 300 employees with good paying jobs could afford to purchase their own and I doubt if any of them were complaining about it.

You know what? FOX IS trying to turn it into an acrimonious battle. It IS a lightning rod, isn't it? Blah blah blah, BFD about a stupid award. Maybe they should think about separation of church and state before they pick up a GOVERNMENT award, what with them being a Big Fat Catholic Company and all. Whining hypocrites.

Average salary for jobs listed at Hercules: $21,000. 71% below national average.

Why should an employer be allowed to dictate the health care available to his employees? Why is the employer Daddy? Equal health care should be available for all, and it should be single-payer. Let the health insurance actuaries go get an honest job. We all--Presidents, congresspeople, moms, dads, CEOs, kids, old people, young people, middle aged people--should have Medicare.

I'm sure an employee can opt out of "big daddy employer's" health care and go buy his own. At least for now it's a free country.

Does this mean that a company owned by christian scientists can substitute prayer for doctors and medical services and call it "generous employee health care coverage"? Hey, if you want government money you have to play by government rules (i.e. no waivers based on religious grounds except for services to yourself).

Libtard? Does this stand for something like liberal and retard? Is this the way you talk to other people, as opposed to anonymous assassinations on the internet? Is this word a term of art in the conservative blogsphere? I'm a liberal and I will match IQ points with the Swampy persona any day of the week, and on the weekends I'll match it two for one.

I really don't get this religious exemption bullcrap. If you don't want it, don't use it. Religious freedom means you also can't force your views on others, which is what this company is doing. As for religious orgs that offer heath insurance, they're doing the same thing. What's funny is they're also admitting that their "believers" use birth control otherwise there'd be no issue. What is not funny is there are many, non birth control reasons for prescribing birth control pills. So now you punish those who have a non control medical reason for the pills. Long live the Christian Taliban.

I just don't understand why an employer, who' religious beliefs oppose birth control should be forced to pay for birth control (or abortion) for someone else. SOMEONE ELSE. The employer isn't necessarily denying anyone their right to use birth control (or have an abortion), but you would force him/her to go against their religious beliefs and supply it. Whose forcing who?

But we've been here before.

It's not whether anyone else uses insulting terminology. It's that you did. The problem with that word libtard is that it is an argument and an assertion masked in a neologism. If I point out that the birthers are demonstrating racist tendencies, that is an argument based on evidence and subject to refutation by anybody who cares to make the attempt. I will stand by my judgment regarding the birthers, but I could conceivably be convinced that there are those who follow that trail without thinking of themselves as racists. But to combine the idea of liberalism with the idea of mental retardation is just to point the finger back at yourself. And finally, this site is not ordinarily the place for lots of profane, insulting usages. You did, and I would ask you to restrain yourself a bit.
