Trump's very bad day

Wednesday was arguably the worst day of the Trump presidency — at least since he went to the CIA headquarters to insist his inauguration crowd was bigger than President Obama’s. His second Muslim travel ban was put on hold by another federal judge. His health-care bill is taking on water. In his Michigan appearance he did not even mention it. In Tennessee he seemed intent on getting it behind him.

(This WaPo columnist seems to have missed the widespread repudiation Wednesday of his wild wiretapping claims against former president Obama)

Trump’s polling numbers in the latest Fox News poll reflect his lack of success to date. His approval is down to 43 percent (from 48 percent) and his disapproval is up to 51 percent (up from 47 percent). On the topics on which he has been focused the voters give him thumbs down: immigration (41/ 56 percent); health care (35/55 percent); Russia (33/55 percent); penalizing sanctuary cities (41/53 percent) and his travel ban (34/54 percent).

Why is a liberal WaPo columnist citing a Fox News poll? Maybe because this is Jennifer Rubin, one of the WaPo's most reliably right-wing voices...and the title of her "Right Turn" column today is "Trumpism is losing, again and again"

In short, nativistic nationalism does not function well in the real world. Bannon’s attack on the “administrative state,” his xenophobia and his pro-Russia outlook have led Trump into a serious of political dead-ends. The whole outsider, blow-up-the-system shtick is wearing thin.

It is indeed. And not just among the left...

...and by the way, next up for this administration?

Forcing a $3 to 6 billion request into a must-pass continuing appropriation bill...to build the border wall.

Gee, I thought Mexico was picking up the tab on that?

Quote

A White House official confirmed that the Trump administration will request that money for the border wall be included in a must-pass government funding bill. The border financing would likely be attached to a spending bill to keep the government open through the end of September.

The request is likely to trigger a major battle between Trump and Democrats after the April 8 Easter recess. Without action, the government would shut down after April 28.

What a legislative genius!

Not to worry - Lou Dobbs (is he still around?) has Trumpie's back (and a knife out for Ryan's back):

Quote

“I believe Ryan’s achieved next to nothing since becoming Speaker a year and a half ago. He had achieved next to nothing in his entire career before becoming Speaker! He’s worked against his presidential nominee and he has lost.

...It is time for his party, if not for the Speaker himself to recognize his limitations and decidedly poor judgement and poor prospects for finding for finding a better way.

I believe it’s time for Ryan to vacate the Speaker’s office in the interest of his party.”

Awww- catfight!!

Unfortunately so are ours.
