Exactly, those pictures are from today and Friday in the Guardian 'pictures of the day'. Their sympathy/hatred campaign continues on.

Meanwhile, Roger Waters is on Facebook comparing Israel to Nazi Germany.

In all fairness to Reuters, their once-a-week innocuous Israeli picture went up on Friday.

of course, here's the one most sites in the Muslim Middle East went with....

Sorry didn't mean to imply that Reuters wasn't spinning it hard on Friday.

Israeli policemen check the body of an assailant after he was shot dead by Israeli police at the compound known to Muslims as Noble Sanctuary and to Jews as Temple Mount, in Jerusalem's Old City. REUTERS/Ammar Awad
Actual event: Palestinians murder two Israeli soldiers outside Muslim holy sanctuary. (Not merely vague 'assailants'. No mention of murdered Israelis you'll notice).

FTFY. You don't get to use a national demonym for one party and an ethnic identifier for the other. Both murderers and murdered in this case were Israelis. Because Arab citizens are full Israelis, right Steve G.?

Perhaps they were tired of being treated as second class citizens.

Not to argue that terrorism is ever justified, but just to point out that Jewish Israelis have had a hard time sticking to the moral high ground that they would like to claim.

I lived in Jerusalem for four years, so I got to see it up close: traumatized people on all sides unable to dig themselves out of traumatizing the next generation, on and on and on.

Perhaps they were tired of being treated as second class citizens.

So they go out and murder people. Stabbing, shooting and ramming people at bus stops with cars.
Oh, and they are surrounded by peoples calling for and actively pursuing the murder of Jews every day for the last 70 years.
Ask the Israeli Arab citizens if they'd like to be citizens of 'Palestine'. The answer is always a flat "No".

JERUSALEM (AP) -- The Israeli military says it has shot and killed a Palestinian attacker who rammed his vehicle into a group of soldiers, injuring two.

The military says the attacker veered into soldiers securing a junction north the West Bank city of Hebron on Tuesday.

You say "they" a lot in these posts.

Yet the number of Palestinians (Israelis and otherwise) who actually commit acts of terror or violence against Israeli Jews and the IDF (which includes Israelis of all faiths) is tiny compared to the overall population.

It's not accurate or fair to homogenize this population's politics or beliefs, or pretend that they are all anti-Semitic/committed to the destruction of Israel. You claim that they don't want to live under their corrupt, anti-democratic governments (Hamas in Gaza or Fatah in the West Bank) and then accuse them of supporting those same corrupt politicians.

Your messaging on Palestinians is confused and contradictory.

If the bigoted and greedy Israeli political parties currently in Netanyahu's cabinet and the seldom-elected swindlers of the Palestinian Authority could reach an agreement on 2 states (without the Palestinians walking away from it...again), it could go a ways to relieving the problems.
Remember, however, that the Arabs sent large armies to murder israel any number of times before and after 1967. Most were before they could use the West Bank as an excuse.

That was fifty freaking years ago. Christ on a cracker, nobody really thinks Israel is going to be destroyed and wiped off the earth anymore. The Arabs and Persians couldn't do it then, they sure as hell can't do it now. Israel is a NUCLEAR POWER. Their military is SO SUPERIOR to EVERY Arab nation's that they could fight a two-front war and still win WITHOUT U.S. troops.

Nobody is forgetting what happened fifty years ago, Steve. You just seem obsessed with forgetting the LAST fifty years, and how the geopolitics and military realities have fundamentally, irrevocably shifted since then. Israel needs to stop playing victim and starting acting like the major regional power it is.

Edited to correct a typo.

The first three mentioned are armed to the teeth and ready to start murdering at the word go. For them the hundreds of thousands of dead and even more wounded in Syria and Iraq are just practice for what they'd like to do to Israel.

I'm not talking about ideology. I'm talking about reality.

There are plenty of chants of "Death to America" on a daily basis in the Islamic Republic. They swear that we will burn in lakes of fire, and they will bring death to infidels, and that the Great Satan will suffer God's wrath both on earth and in the beyond.

That doesn't mean that personally fear for my safety at the hands of the Revolutionary Guard. You know why? Because my military is BIGGER AND TOUGHER than theirs. Their threats are not realistic. Their promises of our downfall are not to be believed. They can't follow through. We'd win, in the end, if we fought.

This is what you are unwilling to do. Temper your rhetoric with a reality check. Nope, you're like the Ayatollah's lackeys, just screeching ideological claims and complaints, all the while ignoring reality.

Remind me again when Hezbollah has managed to launch 100,000 missiles and half a million mortar shells before the IDF pounded them into submission, dust, and bloody fleshchunks under burning rubble?

Nobody is saying that nobody is capable of inflicting any damage on Israel, its citizens, or its military.

I am saying, and have been saying, that your invocation of EVERY THREAT as an EXISTENTIAL THREAT just because of RHETORICAL PUFFERY does not make sense.

You're exaggerating the threat by implying that BECAUSE Israel's enemies possess weapons and a desire to use them, that they NECESSARILY have a capacity to destroy Israel, or damage it so severely that its citizens might suffer truly catastrophic casualties.

That's just not true. Because it is not true, you sound less and less credible every time you repeat the claim.

Oh, and I don't know why Reuters chose that photo. Nor do I care. If you want to know why Israeli settlers living in Palestinian territory need to drill counter terror exercises, then you don't know a lot about occupation in hostile territory. If you want to know why tourists would find that kind of training to be a 'fun outing' when visiting their occupier friends, you'd need to examine their twisted psychology. Some Israelis and their fans seem to get a kick out of paramilitary shenanigans. Perhaps because they don't experience any actual existential threat.

This thread is primarily about the propaganda efforts of Reuters, The Guardian and the assorted European Left.

I have no idea what the people at Gush Etzion think they are doing. But that's not the point. It's another 'Jew Nazis with guns' slander pic. The fact that these are posted on a daily basis is more of the slow drip of poison directed against Israel. (The next 'heroic youth' or 'weeping woman' is dedicated to you.)

Sure, go ahead.

According to Yiftach Shapir, head of the Middle East Military Balance Project at the Institute for National Security Studies, while David’s Sling is a “wonderful addition to Israel’s defense arsenal,” it will be hard to defend against a rocket barrage of thousands of missiles.

According to Yiftach Shapir, head of the Middle East Military Balance Project at the Institute for National Security Studies, while David’s Sling is a “wonderful addition to Israel’s defense arsenal,” it will be hard to defend against a rocket barrage of thousands of missiles.

According to Shapir, Israeli government strategists will have to decide what is to be defended by David’s Sling and other missile defense systems.

“When the Iron Dome was first deployed, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot said openly that it should be used to defend strategic assets, so that Israel can continue fighting. But within months, the government decided that defending civilian populations is more important and that was Hamas’s targets,” Shapir said.

With Hezbollah likely to target Israeli strategic installations as well as military bases, that is what we will have to defend, he added. “But if they decide to target both military installations as well civilian centers, the Israeli leadership will have to decide what they choose to defend. It will be a very tough decision no matter what way you look at it.”

Great quotes. Disconnected from the actual reality of armed conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, but whatever.

Israel wins every time. EVERY time there is a fight, dozens or hundreds of Palestinian combatants and civilians die for each Israeli casualty. There's no parity. There's no realistic comparison of military capacity. There's no way the Palestinians, with every Arab backing them up, can EVER hope to challenge the absolute military supremacy of Israel.

NO HOPE.

The power cut was ordered by Palestinian Authority 'President for 12 years out of 4' M. Abbas in order to pressure his enemies Hamas. Abbas does not give a damn who gets hurt.
Israel and Egypt had nothing to do with this. Reuters neglects to mention that and just plunks down a critically ill Palestinian boy and his mom in your lap and lets you think it's the Evil Jews.

Friday July 17 AP [hosted.ap.org]

After nightfall, a Palestinian sneaked into a home in the Israeli settlement of Halamish in the West Bank and stabbed to death three Israelis, the head of Israel's rescue service said.

An Israeli news site said those killed were two men and a woman who were having dinner at the time. The army released footage showing a blood-covered kitchen floor.

Israel TV's Channel 10 said the assailant was in his late teens and had posted on Facebook that he was upset by the events at the shrine. Eli Bin, the head of Israel's rescue service MDA, said an off-duty soldier next door heard screams, rushed to the home and shot the attacker through a window. Bin said the attacker was wounded and evacuated to hospital.
