The Navy says it isnt ruling out sabotage on this latest ship incident. Huh? Cyber attack? Is a term used. Strategic spot and same place as the last mishap.

I'm going to need a lot more proof than internet speculation.

A smart investigator never rules out anything early on. That doesn't mean they expect there is a snowball's chance of it being the cause.

I thought it a strange public statement by the Navy and nothing like this mentioned with the previous mishap.

I should have said SAME PLACE ON THE SHIP. I know it was not in the same location.

Is the USNavy still using Microsoft Windows XP on its Aegis ships? MS will continue to provide support to paying customers (like, say, the USN).

Even a newer version of MS Windows (7) would still be a concern, given the relative ease of penetration by hostile software. You don't need control of weaponry, steering, drivetrain, or sensors to do severe damage; slight blurring of display info, or adding an offset to displayed targets, other ship traffic, or beacons will cause navigational errors.

Actually, smiley-signs006 again.

McCain: port side aft. Fitzgerald: starboard side just forward of amidships.

Possibly some rogue actor with a computer, half a brain, and a few spare hours to learn… anything's possible:

It's very likely that this will happen - possibly not the top Adm, but some 3-star will very likely be pushed off the poop deck - may not be anything more than a reprimand - but it'll end the guy's career.

What's the count of Russian, Chinese and North Korean subs vs. US surface capitol ships?

Can they win a cold war by just steering enough of the US fleet astray, assuming the method involves a submarine proximate to a surface ship? Do they have enough subs to take out of commission what percentage of the US fleet via a near-simultaneous attack?
