Of course, after 6 months, Little Sessions and I, Lord Trump, may throw you into cattle cars and ship you to Mexico....The man is Nazi scum.

Trump says DACA recipients should not worry about status [www.reuters.com]

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Youths who were brought to the United States illegally and gained protection under the Obama administration should not worry about their immigration status during the next six months before the program ends, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday.

“For all of those (DACA) that are concerned about your status during the 6 month period, you have nothing to worry about - No action!” Trump said in a post on Twitter, referring to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

Reality... Congress has taken no action since the DREAM act was murdered in its sleep. This is a "It's congress' fault" maneuver by Donnie. And Congress will NOT take action.

It's best to start putting pressure on your congresscritter. Donnie is annoying them right now, so they can start ignoring him too.

I imagine the Dreamers will go about their business as usual for the next six months. Afterwards they will go underground.

Good discussion on NPR about it with a local immigration attorney. In short... nobody new can apply. Nobody under DACA can leave the country (visit sick family, etc..) because there is no guarantee they will be allowed back in, even with documented permission. He talked about one guy who is German, works, pays taxes, married a US citizen, and they have a child together. If DACA expires, he will be deported, and have to wait 10 YEARS before he can even think about applying for a visa to visit or a green card.

The reality ? The Republican majority has released ICE's inner racism and has given them the impetus to be the thugs they've always wanted to be.

All too much truth to this. Does not apply to all ICE officers, but combined with a tendency to go for the easy targets to meet their performance goals it has resulted in a lot of deportation actions against law abiding undocumented. It's harder work to go after the criminal element living here undocumented.

Case in point, in this area they have been trying to proceed with a deportation against an older man in his 50's. He came here as a teen with his family as refugees from Iraq in the late '70's. Parents had the proper paperwork for themselves, but apparently some was not done correctly back then for their children. This was discovered when he wanted to apply for citizenship some years ago, past the time limit for filing as he was now an adult. The proceedings to get that changed has gone on for years, and ICE, etc. have dragged their feet. So he is registered with them, never missed an appointment, but recently they moved to deport him. Currently stayed by a court order, but not everyone has the legal support to avoid this kind of action.

Edit - Corrected which country he came from, originally I put down Iran but his family came from Iraq.

Meanwhile, they send this memo to Congress:

Quote

The Department of Homeland Security urges [DACA deferral] recipients to use the time remaining on their work authorizations to prepare for and arrange their departure from the United States - including proactively seeking travel documentation

"You don't have to worry...but you better pack your bags and get a copy of your birth certificate anyway".

To paraphrase Fitzgerald, “These are careless people - they smash up people and their lives and then retreat back into their money or their vast carelessness...and let other people clean up the mess they have made.”

What's even more concerning is the number of American citizens who are having to return to Mexico in order to be with their parents. This brings them into the Mexican education system. And opposite of here in MAGA, the teachers don't understand English and can only try to evaluate the newcomers in Spanish. As a result, many of the kids are being classified as stupid because they don't know a word of Spanish (kind of like what happens in MAGASA to kids who can't speak English).

It's a growing problem that will only be made worse by the nonsense coming from DC.

Because at some point, these American citizens will return to the USA - as is their right - and they'll be uneducated. Nice work, Donnie and Congress.

So, if an existing DACA recipient reapplies in next 30 days and gets renewed 2 year status, will the renewal last two years from date of renewal? Or does all DACA recipients expire at the end of March 6?

Hoping for a positive outcome for DACA recipients that includes path to citizenship!

Don't worry, be happy.
