Corporate Police State: Motel 6 delivering guest lists to ICE

Unofficially, though, employees at both locations said it was standard practice to share guest information with ICE.

“We send a report every morning to ICE — all the names of everybody that comes in,” one front-desk clerk explained. “Every morning at about 5 o’clock, we do the audit and we push a button and it sends it to ICE.”

I heard on the radio this a.m. some Dreamers were detained by ICE and had their wits scared out of them. I thought they had a month…..and would not be a target. Stay tuned, we may hear of more of this.

Nowadays, the proper term is 'collusionist'.

Not one month. Six.

But that only referred to the total (and eventual) rescinding of DACA, or it's enshrinement via something like the proposed DREAM Act. Trump's recent announcement was basically saying that DACA is ending in 6 months (but "it" may instead be permanently protected if Congress passes a law doing so.)

Obama's executive order creating DACA was viewed as "unconstitutional/not survivable by law" etc and so it got axed by Trump. Although no fight ever came from DACA, several Republican governors (or was it Sec'y of something-or-other at the state level?) threatened to sue the Administration of Trump didn't do what he did.

So in the meantime nothing's changed. They're still getting rounded up like cattle by ICE, DACA notwithstanding.

Good news on this:

Motel 6, in response to a report this week in the Phoenix New Times, said employees will no longer work with immigration agents.

The weekly newspaper reported that federal immigration agents arrested at least 20 people at two Motel 6 locations in the Phoenix area between February and August. Motel employees told the New Times they regularly delivered guest lists to ICE.
"This was implemented at the local level without the knowledge of senior management," the hospitality company tweeted Wednesday night. "When we became aware of it last week, it was discontinued."

That's the weakest-sauce version of good news I've ever heard.

Right up there with, "OK, no more waterboarding."
