Good news release of Taliban hostages

A Taliban-linked group has released an American hostage along with her Canadian husband and their three children, according to U.S. officials.

Caitlan Coleman, who is originally from Pennsylvania, and Joshua Boyle were kidnapped by the militants while hiking in Afghanistan in late 2012.

Coleman was pregnant when she was captured. The couple had three children while being held.

I don't think I would be thinking about sex if imprisoned by the Taliban. But that is just me.

How much money did the Taliban earn in this exchange? Maybe the couple can travel next to Somalia or Syria.

I don't want to be "that guy" who blames the victim here, but who brings 3 kids to hike in Afghanistan?

To be fair, they probably had a lot of time on their hands.

So will the travel ban keep the kids out?

Why, yes, yes it will.

Hubby's a Canuck, so the kids can probably avoid becoming Americans if their parents play it correctly.

Can't be done the way you are thinking. Since at least one parent is an US citizen, the children are also under the law. The parents can not revoke that for the children. That choice would be up to the children once they reach adulthood, they can choose then whether or not to retain American citizenship.

As I understand it, by having a Canadian parent they also automatically have citizenship there and Canada recognizes dual citizenship. Again that would be the childrens; choice upon adulthood whether to retain it.

There is something seriously wrong about this creep....
First the idiot thinks that backpacking in Pakistan is a good idea.
Second he compounds the idiocy by dragging a pregnant wife into the mess...

In a video released in December, Coleman referred to "the Kafkaesque nightmare in which we find ourselves" and urged "governments on both sides" to reach a deal for their freedom. She then adds: "My children have seen their mother defiled."...

Before he married Coleman, Boyle was briefly married to the sister of Omar Khadr, a Canadian who spent 10 years at Guantanamo Bay after being captured as a teenager during a firefight at an al Qaeda compound in Afghanistan...

The U.S. had a C-130 ready to fly the family out of Pakistan but the husband did not want the U.S.-supplied transportation...
