Trump's lawyer says he can not be guilty of 'obstruction of justice'.....

.....because he is POTUS....after that tweet comfirming that he knew that Flynn lied to FBI....

Donald Trump’s Lawyer Says POTUS Cannot Be Guilty Of Obstructing Justice

.....President Donald Trump’s outside lawyer wants you to know Trump cannot be guilty of obstruction of justice, because he’s POTUS

John Dowd’s still doing damage control after Trump’s Twitter account announced on Saturday that POTUS knew Flynn had lied to the FBI when he was fired.

“I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI,” “@realDonaldTrump tweeted. “He has pled guilty to those lies. It’s a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!”

Political and legal punditry exploded over that one, arguing that if Trump knew Flynn had lied to the FBI when Flynn was fired, it makes the case Trump attempted to obstruct justice with his subsequent firing of FBI Director James Comey.

Dowd jumped in to take the fall, saying he dictated that tweet to Trump’s social guru Dan Scavino. Dowd declined to say if Trump signed off on it. Dowd said it was the first – and last – tweet he created for Trump.

Much eye rolling ensued across the political landscape.

So, this morning, Dowd tried another approach.

“The tweet did not admit obstruction. That is an ignorant and arrogant assertion,” Dowd argued, spreading the word Monday morning via political web site Axios.

“The President cannot obstruct justice because he is the chief law enforcement officer under [the Constitution’s Article II] and has ever right to express his view of any case,” Dowd insisted.

Morning Joe masticated on that development, comparing the move to OJ Simpson’s infamous “If I Did It” book (and aborted Fox TV special) in which OJ insisted that while he did not murder ex-wife and her friend Ron Goldman, if he had, here is how he would have pulled it off.

But Trump directed his Twitter followers to his pals at Fox News Channel’s Fox & Friends where, he said, Alan Dershowitz had just explained “what is going on with respect to the greatest Witch Hunt in U.S. political history. Enjoy!”

A must watch: Legal Scholar Alan Dershowitz was just on @foxandfriends talking of what is going on with respect to the greatest Witch Hunt in U.S. political history. Enjoy!

Until that tweet, Trump had confined his Monday morning tweets to Roy Moore plugs:

Democrats refusal to give even one vote for massive Tax Cuts is why we need Republican Roy Moore to win in Alabama. We need his vote on stopping crime, illegal immigration, Border Wall, Military, Pro Life, V.A., Judges 2nd Amendment and more. No to Jones, a Pelosi/Schumer Puppet!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 4, 2017

Putting Pelosi/Schumer Liberal Puppet Jones into office in Alabama would hurt our great Republican Agenda of low on taxes, tough on crime, strong on military and borders…& so much more. Look at your 401-k’s since Election. Highest Stock Market EVER! Jobs are roaring back!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 4, 2017

With the great vote on Cutting Taxes, this could be a big day for the Stock Market – and YOU!

Yup. And just as inept at lying. As an attorney, it is unlikely he would use 'pled' instead of 'pleaded' in a tweet.

I've got 5 bucks sez he pardons Flynn.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Monday his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, was being treated unfairly, implicitly criticizing the U.S. special counsel’s charges against him even though Flynn pleaded guilty.

“I feel badly for General Flynn,” Trump told reporters at the White House, and went on to accuse his Democratic rival in the 2016 presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton, of having lied last year.

It's not the tweet so much as the lying and firing Yates and the lying and firing Comey and the lying and asking Congress to stop their investigations (and the lying).

The "President cannot obstruct justice because he is the chief law enforcement officer.” - Trump’s lawyer

Oops.

Now the lawyer is a witness and can be called to testify. He should recuse himself because it should not now be representing 45.

Don't think it will help because the kidnapping was planned in NY and NY attorney general will get Flynn on a worser charge (see what 45 is doing to my prose). Trump cannot pardon STATE charges...only Federal.

I think that is true and may happen. It seems quite likely that Mueller will want to talk to him about that tweet - under oath.

Yes, you need a scorecard or a spreadsheet to keep track of all the crimes the Trump Crime Syndicate members have allegedly committed.
