That would be a tough district for Democrats to flip, though we'll be trying [www.flipthe14.com] What say you BFD?

Could be possible if the Dems can register 90,000 more people to vote. In the last election, Repubs had a lead of almost 76,000 out of a total of 284,000 voters. It might be too late if the Dems don't already have 45,000 registered so far.

I'll be down there (my club) at some point but it's a spread out district.

The way the district has gone historically, even if the Duncan "D" Hunter is found guilty of something unethical with the current investigation surrounding his campaign fund shenanigans, he and his daddy will figure out some way to pass the seat to another Hunter (just like his daddy did). The backcountry (east county) as noted is almost solidly red. However, since Dems control the state gub'mint there is always the possibility of some non-random movement of registered voters after the 2020 census. Still, moving that many votes would seem unlikely. When you look at the boundaries of that district, it takes up almost the entire east county - very low population density, plenty of 2Aer's and red-blooded 'muricans. However, nothing surprises us anymore here in "Enron-by-the-Sea", so anything could happen.

Well, I guess this means Issa's decision not to run again in his district wasn't motivated by the desire to spend more time with his family.

Well, I guess this means Issa's decision not to run again in his district wasn't motivated by the desire to spend more time with his family.

After nine terms in Congress, Issa announced he’s had enough. “It was time,” Issa told fellow members of Congress.

These folks would like to be acknowledged as the reason Issa retired:

What is Indivisible San Diego, the group that protested Darrell Issa?

Upon hearing Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista, say Wednesday that he would not seek re-election, one group that called for him to resign and organized to have a “retirement party” for him celebrated the surprise announcement as nothing less than a victory.

In a tweet, the group Indivisible San Diego credited “a solid year of the largest weekly congressional office protests” in the nation that preceded Issa’s announcement.
