Robert E Lee name remains for TX hi school

This surprised me. I thought the board was ready to change the name.

This is something you hope the students will rally behind. Imagine being a student of color attending a school whose name honors a cruel slave owner who withdrew from the union and went to war to preserve slavery.

Probably not many black students in that school. Most are in John Tyler other side of town. Have not heard of any student protests.

Hopefully white students in this town care about this too.

And the kids at Tyler High should want a name change. How about the town too? President Tyler's Virginia family owned slaves and he was part of the Confederate government, a strong supporter of states' rights (to protect slavery).
