I just wonder if we can ever joke at what has gone on these last 2 years or will it always stick in our gizzard like a burr?

NO!

Even if T leads us to war and financial collapse, these will never be "the good ole days".

Not for me.

His wreckage will last a generation.

NO!

The only smile will be that he’s out of office. Otherwise it’s going to be like a rock in the stomach. Knowing that this country elected an incompetent president.

I will if he is impeached and convicted, then faces criminal charges and is sent to prison. The more years in prison, the bigger my smile.

I certainly hope not, because that'd likely mean that at that point in time, we'd either have someone worse in office, or a much worse National situation of some sort - worse enough to make people look back fondly on these days...

Insofar as his behavior indicates he might likely go scorched earth if he’s unseated, my guess is this will be on the same page as 9/11 as far as historical events go; a period where a shocking number are covered in shame and ignominy and the country flirted with total disaster.

None genuinely like him.

And this —- the necessary evil — is why he could cruise to reelection. His supporters are ideologically wound up. While the rest of you attempt to pine for “even GWB,” conservatives have forgotten all about GWB, just as they have forgotten about Bush I and Reagan and everyone else. For them, there is no good-better-best conservative, they are all the same so long as they get into office.

Any tiny criticism is treated as a total defection, that is why you rarely hear of it. Ask them what they think of 45 compared to earlier ones. See if there’s a “big difference” in demeanor, effectiveness and so on.

They don’t want to limit what 45 can do, they want him to run free and unfettered.

The other ting to look at is the economy. If it is doing well, people are loathe to change leadership, even though leadership has been shown to be incompetent or dishonest. Because of this, I fear that for the midterms, the Republicans will retain control of both Houses, and that President Trump will win re-election in 2020.

My taxes going up from my CPA. No tax cut for me and I won’t vote for 45 if he gave me Ft Knox

James Carville was only partially correct. People use the economy as an excuse to keep or kick politicians, who are seldom directly responsible for good or bad outcomes there.

Just wait, will you be smiling if they cut your Medicare to help pay for those tax cuts? They have already put that and SS cuts on the table.

You guys misunderstand. The appeal of conservatism is that no one gets things from government.

swampy's glee is not because she gets things. It's because YOU (and she) do not.
