Alaska Republican Party leaders to consider reprimanding Murkowski

McConnell let her vote "No," probably as show of false empathy to take a little heat off the white male image of the party. "See, we really do care, now pass the beer."

But hey, now that's over, under the bus you go, RINO!

She voted "present," not "no."

Alaska Republican Party leaders? Sarah Palin? Who cares.

She'll care if she gets primaried, which the SOP for rooting out the unfaithful, and can be done with a yawn from the rest of the country. The rest of us will care if Alaska gets a more conservative senator in her place. How likely that is in Alaska I don't know, but it's stereotyped as full of boot-strappers.

She knew that risk before this vote, and before the other courageous votes she's cast against the majority of her own party.

Her major concern is protecting the ACA for Alaskans, at least certain provisions. Her opposition to Kavanaugh was based in part on her perception that he opposes the ACA and might rule against it on the high court.

If Alaskans are stupid enough to replace their highly principled, powerful Senator with someone else, then so be it.

Too bad Republicans can't recognize principle when they see it. All they see is win or lose these days.

What's principled about abstaining from a vote so dire that will likely change the course of human history on this planet?

Voting "present" was cowardly.

Yep. Fiercely independent bootstrappers.

As long as they get that Permanent Fund check every year.

Among other things, the SCOTUS makes final determinations on treaties, the constitutionality and due process of presidential orders and agency regs (like the EPA regs that Drumpf's people are pushing through to allow basically unlimited pollution/irradiation) and disputes between governing entities (who wins presidential elections, who gets impeached). It's really not a stretch to say that this is determining the course of human history. The issues relating to global warming are enough to tilt the balance of survival of our species. (And the latest studies out of the United Nations are getting very scary on that point.) Add to that the destruction of our last clean water supplies, the destruction of protective coastal barriers, the extinction of important food-chain species and especially pollinators...

Yes, we're f-ed.

Yup, it's on the road to the total nightmare the Republicans have always promised they'd bring down on us.
