......he originally said he didn't know but he seems to have known......no surprise as another Trumper who lies...

Whitaker Knew of Fraud Allegations at Company He Advised

....Matthew Whitaker, the acting U.S. attorney general, had much more involvement in a invention-promotion company shut down in 2017 by federal regulators than has been previously known, company documents show.

The documents released by the Federal Trade Commission to The Wall Street Journal under the Freedom of Information Act, show that Mr. Whitaker had numerous email exchanges in 2015 about customer-fraud complaints with the chief executive of the company, World Patent Marketing, for which Mr. Whitaker was a paid adviser. That indicates he had some advance warning of potential problems that ultimately led to government allegations of fraud and an FBI investigation.

Mr. Whitaker previously has said that he was unaware of any fraudulent activity at the company. He didn’t respond immediately to requests for comment Friday. The Justice Department has also said he was unaware of any problems at the company.

The FTC last year accused World Patent Marketing, based in Miami Beach, Fla., of scamming would-be inventors by charging them thousands of dollars to patent and promote their inventions. The company “provided almost no service in return” and threatened people who complained, the regulator said.

The FTC alleged that the scheme, which it said was promoted through “bogus ‘success stories’ and testimonials,” began in early 2014. The agency found that consumers lost about $26 million; some allegedly ended up in debt or lost their life savings.

Mr. Whitaker received more than a dozen emails and calls in 2015 from people complaining about the company, the internal documents show. In most of the cases, Mr. Whitaker forwarded the emails to Scott Cooper, World Patent Marketing’s CEO.

Mr. Whitaker also agreed to appear in a TV ad for World Patent Marketing that the company’s founder told him was to appear on CNN, the emails show. “What does talent of my type usually demand?” Mr. Whitaker emailed the company’s CEO, in negotiating his fee.

Mr. Whitaker played down his role with the company when contacted by the FTC in October 2017, according to notes taken by an FTC staffer of a phone call with Mr. Whitaker included in the documents. Mr. Whitaker told the FTC in the call that he never emailed or wrote to consumers, and “wouldn’t have personally ever said anything about the business,” according to the notes.

not a surprise...........?!

a knowing lie of this magnitude in any other administration would be a reason for serious inquiry and probably dismissal/resignation .

but serious lies no longer matter.

all that matters is fealty.

nauseating.

Considering Trump scammed people out of money with “Trump University”, el Presidente thinks Whitaker is perfect for the job.

You’re only guilty if you admit you did something wrong in Trump world.
