"My Dad works for Chevy"

Watching OU-TX Championship game. GM is really gonna run this commercial after laying off 14000 Moms and Dads? I've seen it twice in the first half!

The guy who made those layoffs happen by removing the CAFE standards and lowering gas prices by subsidizing ethanol thus plummeting demand for the econoboxes those plants make is the same one who is demanding they do something about the layoffs.

Nope. He's done a lot wrong, but I'll believe that when Toyota and Honda and Nissan lay off their Small and Midsize car assemblers! This is one is on GM management. Ford isn't making these kinds of layoffs, they are converting the lines to their products.

Yup, just a very effective union busting effort.

GM has plenty of capacity on their truck lines, they don’t need to convert factories like the others. GM is fat on plants, they have more than they need. Tesla should buy the plants, they need more capacity...but they aren’t union.

Which will surely be followed by fat bonuses for the execs!

I just saw this commercial that they brought back this year....agreed, not a commercial to air in light of the layoffs and "blue" Christmas many of their employees will be having. Why didn't they do the layoffs some other time? Right before Christmas....not good.

Fairly common practice in business.
It's near the end of calendar, and usually fiscal, year; clear the books before the start of the next year.
