Congress considering censure of Steve King after white supremacy comments in NYTimes interview

About time.

Very eye-opening interview about Rep. King and his views in yesterday's Times: I didn't realize how much he had influenced Trump; King is the original "wall" guy.

“White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?” Mr. King said (he later tried to back off from this statement)

He looked across the aisle at his new colleagues from the other party and said the Democratic party was "no country for white men."

They're working on it. He already has a strong primary challenger for 2020. The national party did not support him in 2018 (the RNCC) but of course his mentee Donald Trump did.

Um.. he's just saying out loud what his party has been declaring behind closed doors for years now. His party would really have to pretty much disband to take proper action.

Just part of the party of the big tent. The big, white tent with a very pointed top and two eye holes.

The Republican governor of Iowa, Kim Reynolds, has already said she won't support King in the primary.

Of course she couldn't be bothered to denounce King before November...when it would have made a difference.

Hard to soft-pedal your racist bigotry when you're gunning the accelerator and driving right at a big, beautiful, paid-for-by-Mexico wall.

His NW Iowa district will continue to send him to Congress for as long as he wants. I’ve spent a lot of time there and so many of the people love FUD.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

Yes, always. Nobody did anything about it. Even people like his fellow Iowan Joni Ernst are trying to distance themselves from his hateful rhetoric now. Maybe something good that can come from the Trump era is less casual acceptance of this stuff by the media and by officials.
