'Supreme Court on 5-to-4 vote blocks restrictive Louisiana abortion law'

"Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. joined with the Supreme Court’s liberals Thursday night to block a Louisiana law that opponents say would close most of the state’s abortion clinics and leave it with only one doctor eligible to perform the procedure."

The justices may yet consider whether the 2014 law — requiring doctors at abortion clinics to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals — unduly burdens women’s access to abortion. The Louisiana law has never been enforced, and the Supreme Court in 2016 found a nearly identical Texas law to be unconstitutional."

Its a sad day for this country when a man like John Roberts, slightly more liberal than Chief Justice Taney, can be considered a "moderate"! He's a slightly less radical reactionary!

This Court would waver on whether public floggings of women accused of being a witch were acceptable.

It should be noted that this was not a SCOTUS decision. The court has not heard the case, and still may.

But at least it was a setback for the forced birthers.

Last night on Rachel, Dahlia Lithwick said that Roberts is an unlikely ally. She said that his vote here was more likely a statement that he would nuke Roe from SCOTUS, rather than let is happen in some lower court.
