what’s a lie and when is it bad and how should you be told

An update of sorts on mainstream media’s continued reluctance to publish the L-word.

I’ve always thought that intent to deceive is only one aspect of lying. My mother in law lies all the time, with clear intention not to do so.

But her sources are faulty and she doesn’t care. And that takes us into the squishier part of where a person SHOULD know that they’re repeating a lie, original or not.

In the meantime, should the topic come up again, I’ll once again let her know that the reason lead paint was banned is not so that the government can spy on us.

At a certain point I think it's a fight over the truth - truth as consensus.

What's most amusing is that the right wing happily called every thing Obama ever said a lie. And he didn't. He certainly shaded the truth, because he's a politician. Trump ? Bald Faced Lies. And the right says reporting about his lies are lies instead.

Diogenes would have to search far and wide in the White House. Probably only find the WH household staff to be honest.
