A bit ironic that the very device about to go dark could be used to inform the user of its own demise.

Piece of the puzzle not explained:

The FCC's Dan Rumelt confirmed to Ars that all TVs are required by the FCC to have a digital tuner after this March.

Where they gonna put all the stickers if TVs already come with digital tuners?

HUH!?!?
All sets MANUFACTURED after this March, there will be plenty of stock leftover of TV sets built prior to the drop dead date.

Um, yeah, I realize that.

But there won't be plenty of leftover stock to remain in stock long enough for the bill to:

1) be passed
and
2) stickers made
and
3) be effective

You're talking less than a year, TOPS, for those sets to cycle through the normal retail process. I just think it''s a wasted effort, that's all.

Neighbor just bought a 30" WideScreen CRT Philips TV, manufacture date was Nov. 2004, plenty of stock for years to come.
300 bucks, puts his 50" LCD picture to shame.

Putting a large warning label on an analogue only set makes a lot of sense, at this point.

You do appreciate these:

right ?

Sometimes it's prudent to plan ahead.

Even then, there are those who wait till the last minute, or don't read the signs.
