It looks like whoever is in charge blinked. Why didn't the cowards tell Trump to @#$%& himself?

The irony is that even if they had charged his campaign and he hadn't complained, the campaign would still have stiffed the city.

Just ask D.C.

I thought the city knew and planned on their money up front.

I guess the mayor made his point that Trump is a deadbeat. Frankly, the campaign is under no legal obligation to pay for security needed for campaign rallies. I'm not sure any of the cities that claim to have been stiffed actually have any legal leg to stand on. Once Trump threatened to sue, and he would have won btw, it was all over.

I’m not sure that’s true. Certainly, the campaign (or someone) has to pay for the venue, and part of that is staff within the venue, and part of that is security within the venue, and probably on the grounds outside (access control, etc). I’m not sure why that would stop at the sidewalk.

But hey, if he doesn’t want to pay, I don’t see any obligation the city has to be proactive with police around the event.

This seems to be a murky issue. I still maintain that Trump would have won a lawsuit.

There were a ton of cops there not getting paid. They were not in uniform, either, if they were Minneapolis cops.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.
