CNN

”At least 10 rockets hit al-Asad airbase in Iraq, which houses US forces, a Sunni commander of the paramilitary forces in a nearby town told CNN.

Qatri al-Obeidi, a commander in the nearby town of al-Baghdadi, said that the shelling has stopped for now. President Donald Trump visited the base in December 2018 to visit troops after Christmas. Vice President Mike Pence also visited the base in November 2019. The attack follows last week's deadly US drone strike that Trump ordered to kill key Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.

Iranian state TV reported that the Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, "has hit U.S. Ain al-Asad airbase in Iraq with tens of missiles." The IRGC warned the US of of more "crushing responses in case of new aggression," according to state TV. The IRGC said it will target any regional state that becomes a platform for US aggression, a second banner on state TV read.”

Now is the time to show restraint. We hit them, they hit us - call it good.

We take out one of their very top guys... they lob some harmless explosives. I can't imagine anyone in Iran wants to call this 'good'.

I applaud your optimism.
I do not believe the Iranians are going to stop at this.
We are dealing with angered fanatics and an incompetent president.
Iran wants the U.S. completely out of the Mid East and unhindered control of the Shia corridor. They also want to use this advantage to destroy Israel. Do you think that is going to happen?

Iran military says they’ve launched a second wave and that they’ll target Israel and Dubai if there’s retaliation. Not good.

More news:

Iran launched 15 missiles, of which 11 hit their targets and four failed in flight, according to a U.S. defense official, who said that there were no reports so far of U.S. casualties in the attack.

Ten of the missiles hit the sprawling al-Assad Air Base in Iraq’s western Anbar province. U.S. radar was able to track the missiles in flight and, as a result, personnel at the base were able to take cover before they were hit. The U.S. made no effort to intercept the missiles, the official said.

One missile hit the Combined Joint Operations Center in Irbil, where the U.S. trains Iraqi Kurdish fighters and also runs a large air operations control center covering northern Iraq and parts of Syria.

The official, who was not authorized to speak on the record, said that the U.S. Central Command was aware of reports of Iraqi casualties in Irbil but that those remained unconfirmed.

It's not dementia if you truly believe what you say, and I'm not convinced that this guy doesn't.

What's more concerning is all the people who believe him and everything he says -- almost a form of mass hysteria or delusion.

Iranian official warns any U.S. retaliation will lead to regional war: tweet

1 Min Read

DUBAI (Reuters) - Any U.S retaliation to Iran’s missile attacks on American targets in Iraq could lead to an all-out war in the Middle East, an adviser to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani tweeted on Wednesday.

“Any adverse military action by the US will be met with an all out war across the region. The Saudis, however, could take a different path - they could have total peace!” Hessameddin Ashena said in a statement on Twitter.

Tehran and Riyadh have been involved in proxy wars across the region for decades, from Iraq to Syria and Yemen. Iran has repeatedly urged its regional rival Saudi Arabia to improve ties with Tehran.

Oil jumps as Iran rocket strike on U.S. forces jolts markets

Oil prices jumped to their highest in months on Wednesday after Iran attacked American forces in Iraq in response to a U.S. strike that killed an Iranian general last week, raising the specter of a spiraling conflict and disrupted oil supplies.

Don’t know exactly, but I’m sure it was for good reason, as the mods here are pretty tolerant. Whatever it was, must’ve been bad.
