Lawmakers say the classified briefing did NOT indicate an imminent threat

The classified briefing today was sophmoric and unconvincing is what I heard. Trump's version of weapons of mass destruction.

As usual, Republicans were reassured and supportive.

Mike Lee is pissed!

From Twitter:

Lee is absolutely trashing this briefing. Frustrated that briefers wouldn't talk about sensitive details... in a SCIF... with US Senators...

"I find this insulting and demeaning. Not personally, but to the office that each of the 100 senators in this building happens to hold. I find it insulting and demeaning to the Constitution of the United States"

Here's some more spicy Mike Lee:
"One of the messages that we received from the briefers was: Do not debate, do not discuss the issue of appropriateness of further military intervention against Iran. And that if you do you'll be emboldening Iran"

"It is not acceptable ... to come in and tell us that we can't debate and discuss the appropriateness of military intervention against Iran. It's un-American. It's unconstitutional. And it's wrong. And I hope they will show more deference to their limited power in the future"

more from twitter:

MORE NEWS:

emerge from all-senators briefing to say they now support a Democratic plan for a new War Powers Resolution. Lee called the briefing “insulting” and worst he’s had from military officials in his 9 years here.

Wow, even the Dems don't give Trump such lashings (even though ineffective laggards like Schumer should)

And this touches on something posted someone in another thread. If war with Iran turns out like Iraq, then it very well could be favorable for the Russians in that it will weaken us financially? Reason I ask is because Bush's diversion into Iraq has added to our national debt (not deficit) by 25% or so ( a few trillion dollars). What will another such hit on or debt do to our economy?

Deficits don't matter*.

*Offer not valid during democratic administrations.
