After federal prosecutors filed their sentence recommendation of 7-9 years in prison for convicted felon Roger Stone on Monday, the president tweeted about this "very horrible and unfair situation."

Today, the Justice Department withdrew its recommendation and indicated that it would file a lighter recommendation.

I'd bet Cheeto will pardon him and Manafort before long.

They might have been playing a game for Stone's benefit - if the prosecutors (reasonably) dig in their heels at this obviously political play, then Trump will pardon Stone saying the sentence was just too hard.

But it works both ways, it seems to me. If they drop down to, say, 5 years, then Trump looks kind of silly for making a stink over it when it was clear he was going to pardon him anyway.

Not that looking silly (or corrupt) has ever bothered the orange one.

“The official said there was no contact with the White House before the decision was made to lower the sentence recommendation. He spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss the decision. The person would not say what the new recommendation would be”

I heard it was the State Dept’s call. I believe no WH contact, don’t you?smiley-signs006

Yup, I don’t get it as they are all, from Barr on down, going to get a pardon.
