Trump will be even more insufferable when the DJA goes over 30,000.

And I'm sure the timing will be perfect.

… buy low, sell high. That's about the only way a commoner can win at this game.

You picked an odd week to wonder about this. The S+P is down for the day and week, but despite this, is already richly valued:

As of Wednesday, the S&P 500 traded at 19 times 12-month forward earnings, the highest the P/E level has been since May 23, 2002, according to FactSet calculations released Friday.

That’s “forward earnings” - ie what folks are expecting/hoping to see over the next year, which may be in for a wee bit of a change with this coronavirus thing. As the story drily notes:

FactSet analysts note that the [P/E] valuation level would be higher were it not for Wall Street expecting record earnings over the next two years.

...continuing the above post:

Not saying it won't happen, but we're back in irrational exuberance territory. Here's "retail" trading volume:

The DJA isn't especially representative of the economy but not many average voters really know that. Even with supposedly record low unemployment, wages are still pretty stagnant and are falling further behind inflation.

I disagree. Trump cannot become any more insufferable than he already is.

I have not felt this giddy about the market performance since the late 90s. And we know what happened then.

I feel that I should move a large chunk of my 401k to bonds or cash.

My 401K is happy. I don't wish it ill, but for the sake of the planet and the Republic I will accept the hit. And then pray fervently it comes back up by the time I need it.
