So Target in Seattle was selling N95 masks ... somebody reported it..."state and local" officials called Target corporate and now those masks are off the shelves and on the way to the local hospitals that desperately need them.

How have we come to this?

“How have we come to this?”

Sure looks like it.

Many of our parents or grandparents went through and survived the Great Depression of the 1930’s. Back then, people knew their neighbors and, unless they lived in a big city, also knew most (if not all) of the other townspeople. Because of this, people were FAR more likely to “pull together”. Sadly, those days are gone. Now, it’s far more likely that a neighbor would screw you over rather than help you. I’m hoping that one good thing that may come out of this effed up situation is that at least some jobs will be brought back to this country. A primary reason the U.S. won both world wars was that we could MASSIVELY out produce the rest of the world. That hasn’t been true for quite some time now. Greedy businessmen got laws changed decades ago that require many businesses to act in such a way as to maximize profit. True profit is more than just money. It includes the well being of workers, the community and the planet; concepts alien to most businesses today. old fogey smiley

Sounds like some kind of liberal paradise.

They were likely commercial N95 masks, not certified for medical use. (Note: this standard has recently been waived by executive order.)

Was it nonetheless boneheaded for Target to sell them? Yes.
