Trump rejects argument for US lockdown
from Guardian coverage
In the US, President Donald Trump has been cautioning against a prolonged shut down or issuing stay-at-home orders.

Trump, speaking a virtual ‘town hall’ meeting, said that a country could be destroyed by shutting it down and pointed to other causes of large numbers of death in an attempt to defend his administration’s approach to the coronavirus outbreak.

“Well you have to make the decision. I brought some numbers here.
-
“We lose thousands of people a year to the flu. We never turn the country off. We lose thousands of people per year to automobile accidents.”

-
“I think it’s possible. Why isn’t it? We’ve never controlled the country before and we’ve had some flus and some viruses. I think it’s absolutely possible,” Trump said. “We have to get our country back to work. Our country wants to go back to work.”

-
“If we delay this thing out you’re going to lose more people than with the situation as we know it. So I think it’s very important for the country to go back,” Trump added. “Otherwise it’s going to be very hard to start it up again.”

On my walk tuned in to Limbaugh’s radio show [he hasnt been ther since cancer announcement] Guess who was spouting - I love me and can do no wrong - being interviewed? Yes, our fearless liar leader. I heard among other things Shanghai followed his lead on shutting down smiley-shocked003

We were aware of the maximum levels of his evil years ago. Being forced to outmaneuver his bs in order to save lives is the latest. Removing him is paramount. Nothing else matters. Nothing.

As you know, even our red, in more ways than one, governor here in GA initiated more restrictions just yesterday. When even some of the super red govs start doing their own thing, maybe there will be push back on Cheeto.

And yet his pandemic handling approval ratings are going up - 60% with even 27% Dems saying he is doing a good job.
