Does he think he can will the pandemic into submission?

He wants to re-open the country to business by Easter, in a little under three weeks.

According to the current rates of infection in the U.S., in three weeks several major metropolitan centers will be completely overwhelmed with covid-19 cases, and unless strict interstate travel restrictions are enacted people will start leaving those centers to go where they can get medical care...taking infection with them.

Despite his nascent experience as a "wartime, I think it would qualify as a wartime, president," I don't believe he has any idea what thousands upon thousands of Americans in body bags, piled up in morgues, being hastily buried in mass pits, is going to feel like.

It’s a crap shoot. If the virus slows or stops, he wins. If not, he only will have his huge, but dying, cult voting for him.

When it doesn't work it will be the fault of Mike "Brownie" Pence.

He doesn’t think.
He just acts, always impulsively.
His Senate sycophants are even scarier, in many ways. Mitch knows exactly what he is doing and why.
Trump is just an impulsive narcissist. Mitch is truly evil, in many ways. Mitch is Newt 2.0

Keep in mind that Trump sees the world as a daily battle. Win today - worry about tomorrow later.

Gov. McMaster of SC just announced today that schools will stay closed until the end of April. Whatever 45 is trying to sell the governors about "re-opening by Easter" they ain't buying.

I think he thought that was a trial balloon that would be an easy sell - at least to repubs...

‘ WHO spokesperson Margaret Harris told reporters Tuesday morning that 85 percent of the previous day’s new confirmed cases of Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, were in the United States or Europe. And 40 percent of those cases were reported in the US.

Even as President Donald Trump has begun publicly considering relaxing social distancing guidelines and restarting the economy, Harris warned that the “very large acceleration” in new cases could make the United States the new epicenter for the global pandemic.

The US “has a very large outbreak and an outbreak that is increasing in intensity,” she said, according to a Reuters report. ‘

in this case, I guess it's too bad that the USA is a federal republic.

Trump has no real life experience beyond the social and financial circles (call it a bubble) in which he has grown up, been educated and worked. He's a trustafarian nightmare become real.
