Canada 'strongly opposed' to U.S. stationing troops near shared border
www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-trump-border-coronavirus-1.5510853
"In his daily news conference this morning, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the unprotected border has benefited both countries for decades.
"Canada and the U.S. have the longest unmilitarized border in the world. It is very much in both of our of interests for it to remain that way," he said.

Think he'll start militarizing the 'eastern' and 'western' borders, too? Each is located about 150 miles inland from the coast, IIRC....

Not true. Don jr was on Limbaughs show today and I heard from his very lips his dad really reasons and consults on his measured decisions (paraphrase by me) Anyone that loves the Easter bunny day cannot be wrong.

I think we should go slowly before rejecting this idea out of hand. First just a few Canadians might sneak into the country, but then a few more would follow, and so on. Before you know it, Americans will be eating Poutine from Maine to California.

Oh, he most likely did this per Steven Miller's recommendation after hearing about how many Islamic radicals are now in Canada and will be invading the US.

I can't find it, but right-wing media has mentioned just that. Canada has is taking in Muslim refugees, and the right-wing theory is that those "radical" Islamists are going to invade the US.

I thought it more for public consumption, an effort to appear to be doing something - another sales point. If the virus ever morphs to a point where it comes under the sway of disinformation and misdirection - we may then have found we have a truly effective leader.
