Trump letter to Governors could be scary

It sounds mostly innocuous, but I see plenty of room for shenanigans.

Creating a database of counties based on its degree of danger of infection. Then opening the safer regions while keeping the danger regions shut down. Since most dangerous countries will be the ones with high population density, these will likely be liberal enclaves. Trump will then vilify these regions - right? It's what he does. More us (healthy repubs) vs them (infected libs).

Tell me I'm wrong... please...

I imagine that the state governors -- with the exception of Florida which is kissing his ring right now -- will mostly ignore the letter as Drumpf has no power to enforce anything he's trying to do (leave New Yorkers to die).

Great idea. Take a safe area and make it a dangerous area. Idiot.

I have heard some public health expert types say we really needed a color-coded system (like the terror alert levels) to convey whether the virus is contained or spreading rapidly and what mitigation strategies should accompany each level of concern.

New Zealand has this:
[covid19.govt.nz]

It's good to know how risky your area is and it would have been good to have a plan like this ready to go say back in late January??

Anyway - the basic theory probably makes sense but things that make sense often become nonsense in his hands.

If Trump has control of it (and you know he would), it would be perpetually "All is well. Buy stuff."

So, would residents from “high risk” counties be barred from leaving? From entering “low risk” counties? How would residents from a given county be identified? Would low risk occupants be barred from entering counties with higher risk designations? How would this all work?

How would this all work?

A county would be identified as "low risk."

Life-as-usual would resume. People would assemble in schools and churches.

And then they'd get sick and many would die.

And then it would no longer be "low risk."

Exactly. The "low risk" areas will become "high risk" areas. Donald Trump and his supporters have got to be the dumbest people in the world.
