You should channel that region to your own death, as more deaths are certain to help the economy! Anyone not willing to die for the economy, at this point, is a communist.

We studied the Laffer Curve in my college economics classes. It was an interesting idea brought to popularity by Reagan. They were always telling us there was no historical precedent for his idea to work.

There still isn’t, because it’s ideology not solid theory.

Well, Laffer already can point to one item - faculty salaries are dropping left and right in universities. Terrible actually. For a decade after the Great Recession, faculty lost ground year over year in many places. This will only compound the issue.

Average faculty salaries only because so many full time faculty have been replaced with adjunct faculty who get paid by the class, and at rates that are a fraction of the salary for regular faculty.

At the same time upper level administration salaries have been going up at well above inflation. Same forces driving up CEO salaries for companies are doing the same for these.

Same here.
When I read this my first thought was "Art Laffer is still alive?" He's 79, spring chicken.

This "task force" will be the usual suspects: Ivanka, Jared, Kudlow, Mnuchin, probably the My Pillow guy... God help us.

Well, he was only in his early 30s when he described to concept to Cheney, Rumsfeld, and some others connected the the Ford administration after Nixon resigned. Wasn't even his original idea, which he at least admits. But once it got named after him, he has been pushing it for all its worth.

Despite years of talk about it, at best it is a qualitative description of what happens, and mostly on a microeconomic, short term basis. Those who have tried to posit more quantitative equations for this have not succeeded.

What can the federal gov't do to 'open the country'? We're all under orders to stay in, but these orders were not issued by the feds. The feds can't lift them either...

Covfefe-45 claimed today that he can order the governors to re-open. If he wants to. Not that he would. But he could.
