In other news: Keystone Cops meets Bay of Pigs

The AP has dug up some interesting details about the little-noticed interception of a handful of guys trying to enter Venezuela over the weekend and foment revolution against Maduro. Two of these guys are Americans, employees of a Florida-based “private security firm” called SilverCorp, which was founded by a decorated US vet (Jordan Goudreau) in 2018 to “embed counter-terror agents in schools disguised as teachers.”

In 2019, there was a meeting held in a Marriott (!) in Bogota, Columbia for

...what one participant described as the “Star Wars summit of anti-Maduro goofballs” — military deserters accused of drug trafficking, shady financiers and former Maduro officials seeking redemption.

... “As supportive as you want to be as a friend, [SilverCorp’s founder Goudreau’s] head wasn’t in the world of reality,” said [his friend] White.

Lots more odd details of this story at the link, which probably would have been a top news story in a different time. Lots of guns, ersatz invaders stranded in a boat off the coast, and the unlikely involvement of Roen Kraft, an heir to the Kraft cheese fortune. (FWIW, one of the Venezuelan co-conspirators say that Trump was calling the shots, but I very much doubt even Chuckles could f up this badly.)

A good read. Check it out.

Apparently revolution takes more than walking into the courthouse with some menacing-looking guns.

A little more on Goudreau - apparently he provided security for Trump at some of his rallies.

One of the captured (non-American) men supposedly called Goudreau “the chief of security [for] Donald Trump”.

Also, SoS Pompeo, while today denying that the administration had anything to do with it, suggested that they knew about the attempt:

"As for who bankrolled it, we’re not prepared to share any more information about what we know took place. We’ll unpack that at an appropriate time. We’ll share that information that makes good sense."

A photo of a contract ostensibly signed by Goudreau and Juan Guaido, the Venezuelan opposition leader, for $212 million (!) also showed up.

Oh, my.

Someone in Dumbkopf's orbit was likely privy to all this, if not the Idiot himself. Would that all this was outed so that it's the straw that broke...

Er.

Um.

Nah.

Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown.
