Alpaca one, just in case.

But seriously, am I the only one who now wants a llama or alpaca? They apparently DO make good pets. (I was hoping for a capybara, but I have to admit the llamas are cute.)

Camelpox.

Maybe if smallpox comes back. It most likely provides some immunity to smallpox, similar to cowpox.

Baby alpacas may be the cutest animals on the planet.

Cute (and promising).

Very cool, and the strongest argument yet in favor of supporting basic research.

Yes ... the fact that they had already been using the llama for research into antibodies against SARS and MERS. Also, I'd never heard of VHHs ... how cool is it that this animal produces a different type of antibody that we could use? (Looks like the researchers just made a VHH-Fc fusion... similar to what was proposed here in a post awhile back about the hamster antibodies... and seeing that the one they made against SARS also works with SARS-CoV-2, they propose animal testing next.) I'd also imagine that with the size of these animals, they can get a very decent amount of antibody, without doing harm to the animal.
