Who would vote for someone whose actions caused THIS to happen?

If I told you 4 years ago that the president said something stupid and clorox felt a need to post this warning, would you have voted for that guy?

That means I've wasted a whole lot of vermouth and olives in the big jug.

Stupid is as stupid does. If you say it enough times, it starts to make sense.

Clorox and Lysol could also grow a pair and actually denounce the person by name who suggested taking bleach.

Seriously?

You as a director of either of those companies would advise this?

I’m surprised they even posted this much of a warning.

Probably liability. People would drink it, and then turn around and sue Clorox and Lysol, "why didn't you tell us it was harmful?"

They don’t have to call him bad names, but to post such a warning in a vacuum as if they’re doing it by coincidence does history (and the populace!) a disservice due to the absence of context. All they’ve done is try to limit their liability without “offending” any conservatives who don’t think it’s any big deal deal what Trump said about taking bleach.

They helped normalize him with silent acceptance, when provided the opportunity to take a stand.

Everyone is so damn scared of “politics.” It’s not politics to plainly state when someone is demonstrably wrong about suggesting to ingest bleach. Company directors afraid of fake “controversies” probably don't need to be in positions of guidance.

The nanny state has won.

Politics may not be the uppermost thing in their mind. Bottom lines are on their minds as are liability issues and those damn pesky lawyers. Which brings us back to the question you posed; would you as a director of either of these or in fact any company in which you have a fiduciary responsibility encourage that company to do what you suggested?

Would you commit to publicly pit your commercial enterprise in opposition the President of the United States?

Would you?

Well golly, it depends on the fight, doesn't it? I'm of the belief a skilled writer could easily come up with a few factual sentences that would undoubtedly have the predictable side effect of Trump supporters attacking the company and doing the inevitable "boycott" similar to other companies that have never suffered long term consequences.

The question any director would have is, are shareholders as a group going to go away, and for how long, vs. how many more may now wish to support them? We're not talking some stupid Twitter war here with the president; he'd start that on nothing more than a whim regardless.
