Interesting. Many states are holding up their hand “ choose me. Choose me”. Texas now is putting in their bid.RollingEyesSmiley5

I think it may be the only big city in Texas without a Democratic mayor.

Probably not happening in California, though San Diego tried to host a GOP convention way back when…

Nixon loved San Diego. He called it his “Lucky City,” and no wonder: A Republican stronghold during his time, San Diego helped him dominate California each time he ran for Senate, vice president and president.

He liked San Diego so much, in fact, that he preferred to end his campaigns here. So it’s no surprise he wanted to hold the 1972 GOP National Convention, where he’d be nominated to run for a second term, in the sunny city that had been so good to him.

The story gets much better from there… Nixon, ITT, scandal… but it would be nothing if measured by the current crook's scandals.

The convention actually did drop here years later in 1996.

Please take it! I'd rather not see it here less than an hour away.

Please pick Texas, or anywhere but here in GA.
The mayor of Atlanta doesn't want it here, but Gov. Kemp is acting like there might be another venue. No, please, no.

Or in the case for some of them, off the edge of the world

That's the old view. Flat Earthers now think he'd run into an ice wall:

Gov. DeSantis is pushing for Florida - Miami would be the logical choice. It is large and used to hosting events; the mayor is Republican, so will support the idea; the area has a strong republican population - and they are seen as Hispanic by most people (though many Hispanics view Cubans as a sub-group of their own).

Orlando might be an option - it certainly has the lodging and facilities. However, the area is not a Republican stronghold.
