Trump campaign manager says 300,000 tickets registered for upcoming rally
[thehill.com]

Brad Parscale, President Trump’s campaign manager, said 300,000 tickets have been registered for the campaign's upcoming rally in Tulsa, Okla.

Parscale said the event is going to be “epic” and that the campaign is “Looking at a 2nd event in town to get more people to be w/@realDonaldTrump.”

The figures indicate the Trump faithful are not particularly concerned about the risks of contracting the coronavirus at rallies, which are famously packed and raucous.

The rally, scheduled for June 19, is Trump’s first public foray back onto the campaign trail. It will be followed by gatherings in North Carolina, Arizona and Florida.

I just hope that while these people all asymptomatically incubate their viruses that they don't kill any innocent relatives or friends.

Get out the Tylenol smiley-shocked003

Some of those might be inaugural day tickets from the 2016 election. MAGA that didn't make it.

I wonder if they thought about selling hydroxychloroquine at the entrance, $25 per pill.

Brad Parscale, President Trump’s campaign manager, said 300,000 tickets have been registered for the campaign's upcoming rally in Tulsa, Okla...

That's the number he had to come up with to keep his boss happy.

I wonder what the real number is.

Whatever the number was, it was going to happen - I agree. Needed to be more than total COVID deaths for sure.

OK, Brad. It appears that the rally will be held at the Bank of Oklahoma (BOK) Center in Tulsa (ref 1). It opened in 2008 (ref 2), so no Trumpie Boy, it isn't new. And 300,000 tickets? The BOK Center, in its most generous configuration such as for a concert, holds a maximum of 19,199 of SEATED people (see ref 2). So, since doing math is not something the common people are able to do, Brad, I could therefore not be disappointed since I'm sure you could squeeze ALL 300,000 people into that YUGE arena. And oh yeah, we are trending upward in new cases of COVID19 (see ref 3). Yeah, right.

Now you want to bring more people into the state because, after all, we don't have nearly the cases that other states have. Perhaps because there aren't that many people sitting on top of one another here, as there are in other places of the country?

You are tacitly acknowledging that this situation you are concocting is a perfect breeding ground for the pandemic since you are insisting everyone acknowledge the possibility that they could be infected (and die) and NOT hold the venue, the campaign, and everyone associated with this liable. Bring LOTS of people from who knows where to someplace that is a "hotspot" of the state, since Tulsa and Oklahoma City appear to be competing with one another for cases. Pack them in so tightly that there is very little room to turn around, much less move from one side of the venue to another. Oversell the venue by a factor of some 15 times or so--some 280,000 people who are expecting to attend will need to be turned away. Fire codes, you know.

I guess he's just trying to bring culture and worldliness to such a backwards place as Oklahoma. /sarc

It's all part of the basic platform they operate from, they don't expect or care if you believe the number so long as you repeat it and it gets out into the ether-sphere.

You did, job done.

Also that venue has cancelled all other events until at least the end of July, some are rescheduled to next year, due to virus concerns.
Yet this one is allowed...

and other news from Tulsa in the NY Times this morning:

The Police Department in Tulsa, Okla., said it was investigating one of its officers over remarks he made in a radio interview this week in which he spoke about police shootings of black Americans, amid nationwide protests against racism and ahead of President Trump’s visit next week.

The officer, Maj. Travis Yates, said in the interview that police officers were “shooting African-Americans about 24 percent less than we probably ought to be, based on the crimes being committed.”
