City of Atwater, CA ... “sheriff changes tune” eh, sorta

So the guy who mocked mask wearing and staying at home has reversed course.

1) Why do we elect so many people incapable of conceptualizing reality until it kicks them in the ass?
2) Why do we elect leaders whose idea of leadership is begging people?
3) Why do we elect people who say they want outcomes but will not ACT to effect them?

From the two photos in the story, the city council does pray and say the Pledge of Stupidity, so there’s that I guess.

By nature, conservatives mock other folks petty little concerns, right up until it becomes their petty little concern, and it becomes not so petty.

Edit: As another post reminded me, Boris Johnson seemed to think this whole covid thing was overblown til he ended up in the ICU. Or Dick Cheney being the conservative’s conservative, except for that whole homosexuals-are-evil-and-perverted thing. Funny how having a gay child can change your outlook. I wish someone had waterboarded him just once; he might have changed his opinion about it being just a little “dunk in the water”.

'The power of empathy has amazing healing powers for the soul. These quotes about walking in someone else’s shoes demonstrates how our understanding and compassion is broadened by the shared experiences of others.'

(sigh, more MAGAts) Just like Sheriff Robert Snaza near me.

I have been in Atwater. For the last 50 years it's been barely more than a gas stop along I-99. The SCCA and other car clubs used to hold races at Castle Airport.

I've been to Atwater Village, seemed like a nice enough place.
