We won’t have Joe Arpaio to kick around any more

Pity:

Quote

Joe Arpaio, the former Arizona sheriff whose illegal immigration tactics nearly landed him a six-month jail sentence – before he was pardoned by President Donald Trump – has lost his second attempt to win back the position... to Jerry Sheridan, his 38-year-old former aide.

Goves me a glimmer of hope for Arizona.

Oh, we can still kick him - he just won't be sheriff anymore...

Goves me a glimmer of hope for Arizona.

The man used prisoners as slave labor, keeping them working in the desert with little food and water and no AC. He called his labor camps "concentration camps." He had a scheme worked out with the cops and judges to send Latinos to jail without due process. He had cops sweeping city streets for anyone who looked vulnerable.

He's responsible for the torture of thousands of people and for hundreds of horrible deaths.

He has never been prosecuted for those abuses.

Arizona is stained irredeemably, as is this nation.

The guy that won was a former aide, I somehow doubt his ideology was too far apart from old Joe’s.

We won’t have Joe Arpaio to kick around any more

From the subject, I was thinking that maybe he was visiting Herman Cain to have an eternal discussion about the pros and cons of wearing masks. He is 88, and in Arizona.

Well, that’s true, but this was the Republican primary. The position became Democratically held a couple years ago, when Joe’s schtick began to wear thin. So his former aide is taking on the Dem incumbent.

The main camp was just south of my mom's place. Interesting concept. Horrific execution.

I don't have any issues with prisoners learning and working and contributing, but slave labor is pretty repugnant.
