Ms. Ivins had George Bush pegged as a front man and fraud years ago.

Not enough people listened.

Looks like she has Clinton and the other Democratic political hacks pegged pretty good as well. A vote for Hillary Clinton in a presidential election is a vote for gutless mediocrity, imho. However, I'd rather vote for gutless mediocrity than for evil crooks trying to institute totalitarianism. I just find it pathetic that the Democratic Party is as bankrupt of courage, ideas and ideals as the Republican Party is of honesty, fair play and ethics.

It'll be interesting to see if Delay loses his seat or if all that intricate gerrymandering paid off. Even hard core conservative neighbors are distancing themselves from Republicans. They voted for Bush solely on the abortion issue, but are now calling themselves Libertarians. When you consider conservatives have traditionally opposed big spending and intrusive government it's hard to see why anyone making less than $100k would vote Republican except the evangelical Christians violently opposed to abortion (right-to-lifers who kill).

It's sad the Dems can't see they could make the issue moot if they simply proposed making birth control freely available to reduce unwanted pregnancies & hence the demand for abortions (& treatment for STDs). The Democrats are totally devoid of ideas though, and apparently think they can win the game by sitting in the stands and waiting for the Repugs to fumble. They chose a red-state Dem governor who supports the war to respond to Bush's SOTU. If the country wasn't so desperately in need of change I'd probably vote Green. Choosing between Dems & Reps definitely makes me feel that way.

Well as long as it wasn't the wife. . . . .

Molly's one tough cowgirl, but at least there's no confusing her species:

The current Congress is not comprised of "conservatives". The neocons of 2006 are as far removed from their Republican roots as Hillary Clinton is from her Democratic roots.

It's true Pops. The Repugs are venal and the the Dems are clueless and they just swap offices from decade to decade.

They're satisfied if we remain willing to pay their bills.

Well put, Pops. I want my GOP back from the thugs that have stolen it.
