Doing our share of 189,000 deaths - my county passes 6000

anticipated to get much worse

Total U.S. death toll as of today=189,000
U.S total cases=6,330,000


within a 6 mile radius of where I live

It is very sad. A lot of deaths compared to the number of confirmed cases... I guess it is at least partly because of the higher percentages of minorities.

I'm fortunate to live in a county, Multnomah County, OR (Portland), where it seems like most people take the mask/social distancing thing seriously (except for Home Depot and Lowes that I don't go to anymore). There have been 127 deaths so far (out of population of about 800,000). I feel really fortunate to be living here - so far - during this pandemic.

We are fizzling along with about one new infection from a previous person that got infected. That's not bad, but it means there's always a big enough pool that it could easily take off again - like if schools were to largely go back to in-person instruction.

Well, once the death toll is about three times the current total cases, we might have herd immunity!
