Interesting ... Biden coming in with a mask, the Dump of course not.

And Biden looks happy, Dump looks like, well... he needs to take a dump.

And wow, Dump has just made some statements about corona and his own getting sick, that need to be contradicted RIGHT away. Hope Joe corrects him.

No surprises here -- Dump is claiming that we'll have a vaccine within WEEKS.

I give him credit for the fact that he's NOT interrupting, but that's not saying much.

I think Welker was under pressure to bring up the Hunter stuff because the claim is that it's been buried by the MSM.

I do think she's doing reasonably well, though Dump has spoken over her a couple of times now.

I wanted Biden to explain how Trump doesn't understand that when he imposes tariffs it's Americans who pay; though he did get in that the billions to farmers is taxpayers' money.

Waiting for the moderator to ask about the 545 children his gov't intentionally made into orphans.

And not only that, but a lot of non-answers to straightforward questions. For example, when he was asked what he'd do about the separated kids, he had NO answer.

I think drump did a much better job than I anticipated he would or was capable of doing. I'm guessing they juiced him up on something to make him more lucid. Biden did a decent enough job, but like the first debate, I thought a couple of times he missed effective one liner retorts. Drump's line of returning to the 8 years, 40 years in Congress thing is effective, and _could_ move a few fence sitters to his side. Did Biden convince anyone like that to fall in line? I'm not sure. And that Is what this is all about, of course. Still, you'd have to be equal parts moron and assshole to vote for such a con man, but they're out there. Sadly for us.

Ehhh, I think he got his point across just fine. I cut Joe slack on his English usage, given what he was facing on that stage.

I'd agree with your assessment. I would have to give Dump credit for doing much better this time around than the last. The problem for him is that he needed to hit a home run, and he didn't. I also agree that Joe missed a few choice opportunities; on the other hand, he had Dump on the defensive on a number of topics, including race relations and Dump's handling of corona and also his tax returns. Also the one time he directly addressed the camera and said this is about character (which it is).

I think Trump needed to win tonight, and I don’t think he did that. I’m not sure Biden won either, but he didn’t need to.

One thing I thought was interesting (although maybe I follow these things too closely) is the Hunter Biden issue went almost nowhere, in contrast to what many had expected tonight. Trump had one moment where he spewed forth a number of right-wing code words that only Hannity fans would understand, and they’re not Biden voters anyway.

On the other hand, Biden called these things crap, and Trump really didn’t push it. I’m sure Faux News, the echo chamber, and Rudy will continue to flog them endlessly, but given a national stage, Trump couldn’t make much out of it, which is going to take some wind out of the sails of the whole thing, I would guess.

Trump did fantastic! He bullied but very mildly and he did not come across as a raving lunatic like in the first debate. That means he won this debate. Most people won’t care that he lied most every time he opened his mouth as long as he didn’t come across as a crazy man. Most people won’t fact check him or read the stories written by the fact checkers. And many will see Biden as too old. Trump looked vigorous for someone just recovering from COVID45.

The North Carolina undecided voters had interesting comments.

45 kept his base with this debate performance.

But he absolutely lied even more than the first debate.

Well, he could well be quite anxious about the contest … and deservedly so. A little bit of Freud slipping through? He's engaged in an anxiety inducing contest, during an anxiety inducing time, and it'll be an anxiety inducing job if he should win the election. Today, though, the election still has a very uncertain outcome. Even more anxiety!

Anxiety about his own pre-existing conditions? Science can tell us exactly what's happening at the cellular level for both of the old men. Neither is "getting younger" by the minute, and neither is a "Spring Chicken".
Both of them should probably be anxious about this contest - as well as the final result.

Maybe he's eager for the challenge, too. Let's hope so!

Well I'm anxious about this election.

Yeah, Trump did a lot better by not coming across as a total 100% jerk, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the election wasn't much changed by tonight. The experts tell us that debates usually don't change peoples' minds. Still, if I was that proverbial man from Mars who turned this on cold, I would have given the debate to Trump by a few points. He lies really well, and Joe didn't refute the weird claims about being paid three million by the Russians, whatever that was about. I wonder why Biden doesn't come right back at Trump when Trump accuses him of corruption. Maybe it's a considered strategy to leave these things be, and play to an audience who most want a calm person.

The CNN snap poll had Biden winning with right about 50 percent vs Trump's 39 percent. That's not as good for Biden as the first debate, but if random people give him the W, that's fine with me. I am a little skeptical about the cross section in the poll, because they are people who said, a month in advance, that they would be watching the debate. That identifies them as a little unusual to start with.

Some things to remember:

1) A lot of people (myself included) have already voted, well in advance of this debate.

2) We only now have 11 days to the election.

3) Things are likely to get worse-- not better-- as far as corona is concerned, as we get closer to the election. As cold as this may sound, the worse the corona situation becomes, the more it's going to hurt Dump.

Two polls are in, Biden winning the debate and by a good margin.

Seems like the last stretch is locking in the Senate assuming no major polling errors.
