The term "knucklehead" keeps coming to mind.

Hey George I believe Burma is now known as Myanmar. I guess
Burma sounds better. My son had that question in Quiz Bowl
practice. I doubt Georgie was in too many Quiz Bowls.

Listening to portions on the radio (I couldn't endure more than a few sound bites) I can't decide which is more embarassing: that this boob is entrusted with the power of our presidency, or that many of my countrymen (and a few women) were apparently applauding him. It's like a bad dream from which I can't awaken. A friend whose son isn't coming back from Dick & W's Fine Adventure asked me to make a poster for her today. I think I'll go back to sleep now.

I had made a nice dinner and didn't want to risk losing it, so I passed and kept cleaning my basement. It gave me the excuse to take a shower later and get clean - the same thing I would have had to do if I listened to Bush.

It's unfortunate that folks can't listen to any politician without using their partisan filtering apparatus. Like Clinton did such a marvelous job dealing with the terrorists. Looking at the facts, each individual terrorist attack on embassys ships etc, Clinton stuck his head in the sand. And, what about all the democrats who declared there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and approved the war..... now running around disavowing the lengthy conflict? Yes, there are documented quotes proving they originally agreed.

The difference is, the boy will never admit he's made a mistake, nor will he permit himself to change his course even if it's heading right for an iceberg.

Not to excuse the dimwitted Democrats (millions of us around the world knew Bush was lying and marched in the streets protesting the war threats) but they were lied to by Tenet and Powell in closed-door sessions with all the gravitas of "Top Secret" CIA "intelligence" sources. When you've got the credibility of the world's biggest and best-funded spy service backing up your "facts" they're hard to question, especially when the administration pulling that agency's strings is making it clear any naysayers are traitors exposing the nation to danger.

Beyond that the Republican vs. Democrat puppet show is a duopoly, with good-cop/bad-cop comparisons. They are both in the pockets of the corporate plutocracy which fills its pockets through war. Both require tens of million$ to elect a senator, and ya dances with them that brought ya. Only when we get public financing for elections will we see our way out of this hole, and both parties profit from the status quo. Our republic is going the way of the Weimar, and Bush, or his replacement, will be our Hitler, empowered by the gradual erosion of the constitutional freedoms far too many take for granted, or willingly surrender for a little temporary illusion of security.

At the risk of using insensitive language, "shiny @#$%&" has been quite common in Washington for many, many years.

Heck, they even spray perfume on it and manage to sell it to 50.5% of the voting public, sometimes.

it was mostly about the glorious future, not so much about the fading past.

well, exceptions included how WELL the "no child left behind" law is doing (FANTASTIC, if you ask Bush).

never mind the truth about it, underfunded and disliked by most educators. a friend of mine is a principal, he said it's bunk.
