Their only purpose is to inflame hatred. Even Yale "Gentleman's C"-students recognize that. Why don't you?

The purpose is obviously to prove their point. The islamicists are completely and uncontrollably nuts. They came out and celebrated on 9/11. They should all be nuked. I laugh everytime I think about Rachel Corrie. They should've taken John "Taliban" Walker and run him over with a steam roller HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!!!!!!!!

No jews rioted as a result of this.

Do a search on anti israeli cartoons and see how many there are from arab newspapers. Never once has one of them triggered a riot.

The Muzzies are offended by a woman's ankle showing.
Let them be offended, or learn to get over themselves.

"Oh no!!! We can't do anything to offend the Muslims, lest sumpn' gets blowed up real good!"

I can understand being insulted by a 'toon, but to burn buildings and kill for it, well, it isn't helping their cuase on the world stage.

If they think they are being singled out now...

I didn't know this, heard it today, those stupid cartoons were posted in September 2005. Now I feel even more contempt for those idiots. Really, get a job, get something to do. Hey, you idiots in PA, did you know your government extorted funds to the tune of billions. Why don't you get pissed off at that? Really, the entire arab world is acting like americans. Remember the fear of homos and marriage that ravaged the land here last election?

Come on, G-man. You're going to give me an eye injury from making me roll them back so hard.

> Btw - the double standard of the Danes is evident:

That's nothing different from what American newspapers (and every other form of American media) do.

They turned down the Jesus 'toons because they thought that the images would offend their readers.

Presumably, their demographics didn't include a lot of Muslims.

I think it's a safe assumption that the vast majority of the rioters don't subscribe to the newspapers that published the 'toons at issue.

In September 2005, when the cartoons were first published, Danish Muslim clerics asked to speak to the editors about the cartoons and were denied. The clerics began circulating them throughout the mideast, including other anti-Muslim cartoons, and so the storm has been brewing. Recent revelations of abuse of Muslim prisoners by Danish troops participating in the illegal, immoral occupation of Iraq may have been the breeze that fanned the smouldering resentment to ignite. This could have been defused long ago, had this Danish newspaper reacted apologetically to some of its own society members concern, and not shown its blatant bias by refusing similar Christian cartoon spoofs the Danish economy would not now be losing $1 million/day to boycotts. Idiots.

So I guess you also agree then with giving in to the christian right who have mounted boycotts against many tv shows tv networks, film companies and news outlets.

In my neck of the woods conservative Christians (who take many liberalities with the "thou shalt not kill" stuff) predominate, so it would be foolish for me to publish cartoons showing Jesus sodomizing a little boy with the caption "Let the little children come unto me" and the Apostle Paul saying to a bunch of priests "Imitate Christ." I think I'd probably be the focus of a local fatwa.

Aside from that, what purpose would such hate-speech serve? Would it make the world a better place? As Kurt Vonnegut's son told him:

"Father, we are here to help each other get through this thing, whatever it is."

Be as you wish the world to become.

See you always have to insert (hee hee) your experience with the kindly scoutmaster.

Now now, no one had muhammed sodomizing or doing anything sexual. They had him welcoming dead suicide bombers and wondering where he'd get the 72 virgins for each of them and wearing a bomb in his head. Two very appropriate images given what has been done in his hame. They don't like it because the truth hurts. But it is the truth.

It's also true that the massive military aid, including F16s, Apache helicopters and other high power long-distance armaments enable the Israelis to kill three times as many Palestinians as they do Israelis. If we similarly armed the Palestinians maybe they wouldn't resort to suicide bombers. Or if we disarmed both the Israelis and the Palestinians they'd just have to throw dirt clods at each other. If we can't have peace then at least let's have less deadly war.

My latest understanding of this whole affair is that it was a Danish editors effort to involve editorial cartoonists while driving his own papers circulation. The editor in question invited ALL Danish cartoon contributors to submit samples for publication.

Out of a potential pool of 150+ he received about 12-13 responses, one of which lampooned him and his newspaper for the premise. That one never made the paper.

Anyhow he selected and published last September and immediately got a call from an irate newsvendor refusing to sell that days paper. He also received a death threat that was followed up and turned out to be from an asylmn guest doing his thing.

Later a group of Mullahs convened to look into the matter. It took a few months but they eventually released a scathing report that reprinted all the offending cartoons, accused the Danes of blasphemy and called for action against the infidels.

The strangeness occured when the Mullahs published their report with additional cartoons appended at the end, 'toons showing the Prophet engaging in @#$%& and other degradations never even hinted at in the newspaper cartoons. These add-ons were never attributed.

The riots followed the publication and dissemination of the Mullahs report.
