FYI, it looks like Chambliss has defeated Martin for Senate in GA

We were just watching a snippet of the local news, and it looks like Saxby Chambliss will be going back to Washington. I'm not sure if the Al Franken race will ever be decided. It looks like it may be going to court around the 19th of December.

I think these are the only two remaining Senate seats that were in question.

Roswell, GA (Atlanta suburb)

yipee! Not surprising. This is a red-state we live in after all. I'm sure that those of us on here did our part to keep that from happening, but I would have been shocked if Martin had won.

Is Chambliss best served chilled or at room temperature?

The people who elected George Wallace their governor are entitled to whatever sort of representation they choose in their Senator.

George Wallace was Australian? Back here in the old country we never knew that.

I agree with that, but we are talking about Georgia, not Alabama.

So, with just 58 seats that means lots of excuses and kissing Republican ass. :-)

Legislation that moderate Senate Democrats will support may very well also draw the support of somewhat moderate Republican Senators like Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Arlen Specter, Richard Lugar, or George Voinovich. Several Democratic Senators are from fairly "red" states so there may just as much ass kissing of them as of the Republicans I mentioned to get supermajority votes when required.

Maddox and Wallace. Isn't it interesting that the people who lecture everybody else on race have this sort of distinguished ancestry. Oh, add the grand wizard of @#$%& in office now.

It might end up at 59. Al Franken is still trying to steal that Senate seat in Minnesota.

Steal the Senate seat from Minnesota? How? Last I checked he was the Democratic nominee for the Senate seat and there was an election that was so close it triggered the automatic recount clause in Minnesota election law.

The automatic recount is not what I mean; that's OK.

That hardly implies that he's trying to steal the election. It says that election officials did not feed the ballots through after the machine was repaired and that the ballots had not been counted in the first count. If Coleman had gained, you would not be complaining.

It sounds like Minnesota is doing the kind of careful recount that Florida should have done in 2000. It sounds like the Minnesota election officials are doing their jobs well.

I do notice from the story that Coleman has gained something like 60 votes in the overall recount.

If recounts were supposed to come out the same as the original count, there wouldn't be any reason to have them.

I'm just saying, don't act so surprised if the count ends up differently. It happens.

So, we keep having recounts until the results favor Franken?

Don't be stupid. You guys seem surprised that the numbers seem to be coming out a bit differently. I am explaining that this can happen during a recount.

Stop acting like you have a room temperature IQ.

It does not seem to have anything to do with what was said previously on the thread. Would you clarify please?

He means Democrats. He subscribes to the right wing talk radio story-line that Democrats "lecture people about race", tucked somewhere into their busy schedule "killing babies", "socializing our economy" and "hating America".
