Glad to see it coming. The investigations touch both sides of the aisle so there's really no need to be partisan in your replies.

Investigations are one thing. I'm all for cleaning up any industry that has unethical members. Everyone is innocent until proven "unethical". But it really is all a sham in my opinion when you have the members themselves doing the investigating. And what kind of power does the committee have? What is the punishment for being unethical? Censoring? Big deal. You said so yourself, swampy, about Joe Wilson. This is just finger pointing politics. Nothing will actual be done about the corruption.

It's all baloney if you ask me. As long as candidates spend millions of dollars to run for election they are going to find ways of getting the money. Campaign finance reform has been a joke.

Set laws about when candidates are allowed to start advertising, say two months prior to an election, and forbid any advertising at all ever by anyone except the candidate (not even the party they represent, let alone PACs. Those groups can advertise on ISSUES ONLY). If they want to go around stumping in person fine, but until the two months kicks in they have to pay for it out of their own salaries.

And obviously no spouses' companies should be allowed to contribute nor should the spouse NOR their company be allowed to do work for any branch of any government anywhere. If you want to be a contractor for the government don't marry a politician.

I could go on but why bother? It ain't going to happen.

Me too, even though she's weak on the environment and doesn't seem to have a clear stance on US military presence in the middle east.

We fell them down and turn them into paper,
That we may record our emptiness.

Right that! The First Amendment trumps just about all of that, for individuals at least. Freedom of speech for commercial entities, though, that's pretty infinitely debatable.

And I am afraid that limiting the length of campaigns would just increase the advantage that incumbents have.

They are currently reelected at a rate of 95+ %, how much worse than that can it get?

When this happens (and it will - the fix is in), it will be the final nail in the coffin for American Freedom.
