iPhone 4S video out through Dock -> Composite Cable

I know that in the past if you tried to use the composite AV cable with an iPhone it would only play movies that were purchased in iTunes. Anyone know if this has changed. It would be a lot easier to rip the DVDs that I have and put them on my iPhone for kids watching in the car (there is a rear entertainment and it has a composite input).

Thanks

I never had that problem.

My problem is that about 50% of the time the 4S pops up a message that the adapter is unsupported.

It plays the video anyway, but it's annoying.

Video out other than HDMI or VGA is determined by the App maker.

If you buy the apple cable it works fine, I rip my movies, watch eyetv through it, and podcast. I also have a cable that I bought from Amazon and it doesn't work, so I would go with the real deal if you want to make sure it works or a name brand that has good reviews. (like Monster)

HBO go doesn't work because they don't allow it.
