Mac sees router but not connected wirelessly

Clean-installed and updated my wife's G4 DVI 12 inch pwrbk to 10.4.11 (Thanks to our fellow forum member Richard) but cannot connect wirelessly. The pwrbk sees the Buffalo All-Station G. Keep getting the "The encryption is not supported..." Everything worked fine prior to the clean-install. Any idea?

My bad. Pardon. The wireless encryption, i.e. WEP, WPA, etc. Now I can only boot into safe mode sad smiley

WPA. Won't take others.

More quirkiness:
Apple Menu has Force Quit..., Force Quit Finder, Restart..., Restart, Shut Down..., Shut Down, Log Out (user account)..., Log Out (user account).

Highlighted objects have dark line rectangular box around them.

Reinstall 10.4.11 from the PPC combo updater.
[support.apple.com]

If you can't download it while jacked into the router via Ethernet, then download it to another Mac and move it over via external hard drive or target mode.

Doing it right now. Thanks!

How do you know he didn't use the combo updater before?

Even if he did (which is likely since I don't think Apple provided a 10.4.10 or 10.4.11 disc), something went screwy. Sometimes reapplying the combo update can fix such problems.

Yup, reapplication got rid off most of the quirkiness; still, it's not connecting :-(

I agree. It's one of the easiest ways to quickly fix SOME problems, and one I would certainly try in this case. Safe boot didn't cure it, per OP.

I suspect the G4 got a hernia trying to handle WPA.

Will it connect successfully with no encryption?

With WEP encryption?

I agree. Not only works well on Tiger, but best browser on Leopard as well. Best PowerPC browser period.

Just be aware that plug-ins are disabled in TenFourFox (Flash, Java, QuickTime, etc.) because of security issues. If you want a nice freeware YouTube app to replace the lost "in browser" functionality, try MacTubes.
