I picked up 3 at this price. They usually run $130-$140 and although I know they will be cheaper one day, if you need them now (my clients do), this is a very good price.

That's a lot of portable storage!

I usually carry around 3 when I visit clients (currently have 4). It not only has all my music, it has backups of all my work and client HDs for the last several years. Storage is VERY affordable these days!

No failures? I have a perception that 2.5" drives with their tiny platters and parts are less robust than 3.5" drives.

All drives will eventually fail, but for for travel or TM use, these drives are spacious, fast and (so far) pretty reliable. Amazon has a hard drive case for $6 that fits this drive like a glove and offers very good protection.

I would not recommend these drives for daily use or for desktop use, as 3.5" drives are much less expensive per GB.

I agree that was a good deal on a 2.5" drive but 3.5" prices are still high, post-Thailand.

I see a couple 3TB drives around $140-$170, fewer 4TB, and just like a few years ago 2TB remains the practical norm around $90-$120.

I think we're about one more anti-consumer merger away from 2TB drives being $150 and 90-day warranties on bare drives.

If you are a Costco member, they have Seagate 4TB USB 3.0 external drives for $160. I have 3 already or else I would have picked up one or two.

Fry's still has the WD 2TB USB 3.0 portable for $99, but in-store pick-up only: [www.frys.com]

Still waiting for the 3tb drives to come down more.
