"iTunes can't verify the identity..."

"...of the server ax.itunes.apple.com"

The certificate for this server is invalid.

Is anybody else getting this message when launching iTunes? I get this even though Music is selected in iTunes and not the Store.

FYI iTunes phones home whenever it's launched. And it uses an address located in /private/etc/hosts for such things as seeing if you should be allowed to download iOS software. Don't ask if me if that's relevant here; I am NOT suggesting you edit your hosts file.

See if you can reach the iTunes Store. At any rate it should be a temporary issue?

Accessing the iTunes Store, no problem.

I imagine it will pass. No problem with my iDevices at all.

Is the date and time correct on your computer?

Yes, they are.

Also, 10.6.8 and 10.4.1. I noticed I don't get that message on another 10.6.8 Mac, so I'll check the version of iT on it.
